LA FONTAINE DES CAPUCINS
Description
In 1829, Mayor Stanislas Bresson had two fountains built on either side of the Faubourg de Neuvillers (now at the bottom of rue Charles de Gaulle). The Capuchin fountain is one of those that encroaches a little on the road. Its opposite side was destroyed in 1878 to facilitate traffic. It is supplied by the Capuchin spring, located in the Faubourg d'Alsace. This spring bears this name because it supplied water to the Capuchin convent located at the site of the ancestral Banque de France (boulevard Thiers).
