LA FONTAINE DE NEPTUNE
Description
An 18th-century Rocaille-style fountain in the grounds of the Charles Friry municipal museum (listed as a Historic Monument in 1966).
Neptune represents the Roman God of water, his Greek equivalent being Poseidon. He lives in a golden palace at the bottom of the sea with his wife Salacie (Amphitrite in Greek mythology), where he rules over the gods and goddesses of the sea, as well as the nymphs and sea creatures.
