REMIREMONT
THE FOUNTAINS
Description
At the end of the 18th century, Remiremont had 31 public fountains made of sandstone or wood. These fountains were rectangular and used to supply water to humans and animals. In the 19th century, they were damaged, which is why the mayor of the time, Stanislas Bresson, completely redesigned the water supply network and equipped the city with numerous fountains to make it easier to fight fires and drought... In the 1990s, under the mandate of Mayor Christian Poncelet, the city underwent major transformations, particularly new fountains and water jets were installed. The city of Remiremont currently has 18 fountains that the walker can discover by a small circuit available at the Tourist Office.
