NEUFCHATEAU

HÔTEL DE HOUDREVILLE

Description

Dating from the 16th century, this is the most remarkable surviving Renaissance building there is in the town centre of Neufchâteau.

This Hôtel Particulier (town house) was rebuilt between 1578 and 1594 by a rich grain merchant named Jean Mengin de Houdreville. The cellars date back to the original building.

The Staircase and the main façade of the Hôtel particulier are richly decorated: interlace, fruit baskets, plant decor, pilasters....

Must-sees: the Renaissance staircase, the medieval cellars, the salon d’honneur and the mayor’s office.
